Children's Literature
By using the Chesapeake Bay, the reader is offered associations with each of the colors in a rainbow pertaining to this body of water. The colors are blue, white, green, red, gray, yellow, orange, black, pink, brown, and purple; they are not necessarily the primary colors that a child learns. The illustrations become a "Can you find it on the page? "or "Point to me where you see it" representation. The reader can also expand on other items not mentioned for each of the colors. A teacher could use it as an enrichment activity in class with the student by compiling the list. This picture book would be most beneficial for students who are in the Chesapeake Bay region. 2004, Tidewater Publishers, Ages 4 to 7.—Rosa Roberts
