About Book

Learning to use the potty takes patience and practice, and this charming, straightforward book helps pave the way. Young children learn how to use the potty and why it’s time to do so, while gaining the courage and confidence to face this important milestone in their lives. When little ones learn to “do what the big kids do” (go, wipe, flush, wash their hands), they won’t need a diaper anymore—they’ll have underwear under there! Includes tips for parents and caregivers from a children’s health specialist.

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot

If you need a book to help encourage toddlers to use the potty and to say good-bye to diapers, this one may be helpful. The book focuses on growing up, and part of that process includes using a potty. It explains in simple but not graphic illustrations the difference between girls and boys and the importance of washing your hands after going to the potty or toilet. The part that may be the most useful, is the statement that "Using the potty takes practice." The families in this book are very supportive—they clap and cheer and lavish praise for successful behavior. What is the goal? Why, to get out of those diapers and start wearing underwear like the big kids do! The last spread is for parents and caregivers, and it gives plenty of good advice about when to start potty training, selecting the right potty, motivation, and hygiene. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
