About Book

This book of 20 lively number rhymes and rhyme games helps preschool children develop and extend numeracy skills while having fun. The rhymes encompass addition up to 10, subtraction, sequencing, pairs, odds and evens, and sharing, and they encourage physical involvement with the counting process. Each spread has a different visual theme, including Toyshop, Garden, and Space. The rhymes are preceded by notes to the parent or caregiver on how to play along with the rhymes, and the illustrations are full of warmth and comic detail.

School Library Journal

PresS-K-A compilation of 18 lively fingerplays and games, complete with directions and hand motions. Dunn begins with a note to adults about the importance of early number play to build a foundation of confidence for future math learners. The colorful, action-filled cartoons show children of many ethnicities. Numerals make up borders for many illustrations and are also scattered about on the attractive golden endpapers. Several pages contain both the numeral and the word spelled nearby.
